DC Veteran Amit Mishra Tests Positive For COVID-19

DC spinner Amit Mishra has tested positive for Covid-19. The entire team has gone into quarantine, according to reports. The news has arrived as another big blow to IPL 2021 after the tournament was already affected by Covid-19. Earlier, Kolkata Knight Riders’ players Sandeep Warrior and Varun Chakravarthy were tested positive for Covid-19.

Therefore, Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bangalore match on Monday was also postponed. Moreover, three Chennai Super Kings’ staff members were also tested positive for Covid-19 including CSK bowling coach Laxmipathy Balaji. Therefore, CSK players have also been asked to undergo 6-day quarantine. As a result, the Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals match on May 5 is also expected to be postponed.

DC Leg Spinner Amit Mishra Tests Positive For Covid-19

Now, reports have claimed that Delhi Capitals veteran Amit Mishra has also got affected by Coronavirus. Therefore, the whole Delhi Capitals team has been asked to go under quarantine. So far, Amit Mishra has played 4 matches for Delhi Capitals out of 8. Mishra was not part of Delhi Capitals in their previous match against Punjab Kings. However, he was seen in the dugout. As a result, many Delhi Capitals players were in direct contact with Amit Mishra.

After Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals has become the third team in which Covid-19 has breached the bio-bubble. Now, Delhi Capitals’ upcoming match against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 8 can also get postponed. This will create more issues for IPL 2021.

Due to the Covid-19 crisis in IPL 2021, BCCI is considering shifting all the remaining matches of the tournament to Mumbai. Some reports suggest that BCCI has contacted several hotels in Mumbai to enquire whether they can provide facilities of bio-bubble needed for IPL 2021 teams. However, no official announcements have been made by BCCI in the matter. During the first leg of IPL 2021, Mumbai successfully hosted 10 matches.

At present, the second leg of IPL 2021 is taking place with matches scheduled to be played at Delhi and Ahmedabad. Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings and, Delhi Capitals are currently stationed in Ahmadabad. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, and Rajasthan Royals teams are currently staying in Delhi.
