Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were victorious in the 40th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday, September 27. Notably, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the game by 7 wickets to register their second win of the season.
The Kane Williamson and co. lost the toss and were asked by Sanju Samson to field first. The decision of batting first didn’t really work for Rajasthan Royals as they lost the wicket of Evin Lewis at the score of 11.
However, after that Sanju Samson showed a batting masterclass. He played the captain’s knock. Meanwhile, in the end with the help of Sanju Samson’s 82 Rajasthan Royals posted 164 runs on the board. However, that was not enough to win the game. As Jason Roy and Kane Williamson played terrific knocks to lead Sunrisers Hyderabad towards the victory.
It’s a good feeling, some real clarity in roles as well – Kane Williamson
During the post-match presentation, Kane Williamson was very happy after finally getting back to winning ways. He stated:
“It’s a good feeling, some real clarity in roles as well and it’s nice to be back to winning ways. There were a couple of periods of play that were quite significant and we closed nicely with the ball and to get off the start with the bat like that and it was never easy, had to weather some storms with the ball holding up.“
Further, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain showered praise on Jason Roy who replaced David Warner in the team. He smashed 60 runs to eventually win the player of the match award. Kane Williamson asserted:
“It’s nice to finish with a win. Any team he comes in he (Roy) brings that, did what he does take the game and it’s nice to see him do well. Nice contribution for him.”
Kane Williamson signed off by saying they need to worry about the game and always play with that smile on the face. He said:
“A couple of days now between games, important for us to recover and we have to adapt and make some adjustments. Always a tough team to beat and for us it’s about to worry about our game and play with that smile on the face.“
