Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson reckoned his side was at least 10 runs short during their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Dubai on Monday. SRH managed to chase down the total of 165 with 9 balls to spare.
Kane Williamson and Jason Roy registered fifties for the SRH team. The win was just their second in ten matches this season. Samson was a dejected man during the presentation ceremony and he felt his side wasn’t up to the mark in the death over.
“It was a decent score. The wicket was sticky, and they were bowling well. We could have got 10 or 20 more actually. The last overs was the difference – you can say that.” he said.
“We definitely need to work a lot on our batting and bowling” – Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson was the top scorer for his side. He scored exactly half of RR’s runs on the night and it was also his second fifty in a row. Both of them have come in a losing cause and that’s something the skipper won’t be happy about.
I wanted to keep going, but we kept losing one or two wickets. We got the target which we were aiming for after the time-out, we definitely need to work a lot on our batting and bowling, we need to be at our best with each and every ball. We need to lift our standards.Sanju Samson
With RR’s defeat, four teams now have an identical number of wins and losses. The battle for the third and fourth spots is now heating up. CSK and DC look set to make the top two spots their own as neither of them looks beatable at the moment.
Rajasthan will next be up against Virat Kohli and co. on September 29 while SRH faces the table-toppers, CSK on September 30.
