India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli lavished rich praises on Varun Chakravarthy after the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner put on a match-winning performance on Monday in Abu Dhabi.
Varun Chakravarthy returned with astonishing figures of 3/13 from his 4 overs dismantling RCB’s middle-order as KKR claimed a 9-wicket win. Before the start of the second phase of the IPL 2021, he was named in India’s 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup.
Virat Kohli expressed his excitement about the 30-year-old’s quality and smarts. He stated that Chakravarthy would be a crucial player in India’s World Cup campaign and will play plenty of international cricket.
“Pretty good from Varun, he’s going to be a key factor when he plays for India. It’s great guys who’ve got the opportunity to play at the international level. He’s someone who is going to play in the near future for India, it’s a great sign.” Virat Kohli said at the post-match ceremony.

Chakravarthy snapped a three-for in Abu Dhabi. He bowled Glenn Maxwell while the batsman was trying to slog, He then trapped debutant Wanindu Hasaranga on his first ball and later dismissed Sachin Baby as he mistimed one to point.
Chakravarthy then also ran out Kyle Jamieson at the non-striker’s end after Harshal Patel played a straight drive; the ball took the spinner’s touch before hitting the stumps while Jamieson was short of his crease.
KKR now move up to the fifth position in the points table having claimed 6 points in 8 matches. They will next face Mumbai Indians on Thursday. RCB, who remain in the third spot with 10 points, will take on Chennai Super Kings in Sharjah on Friday.
